About Harlington
Harlington is a delightful village set in an elevated position at the northern end of the Chiltern Hills. The village has a population of 2260 and is noted for its half-timbered cottages dating from the 15th-18th centuries. There are two pubs, a selection of local shops, a 14th century church and a modern health club. The green in the centre of the village has a large duck pond and a children's play area.
The village is home to Harlington Lower and Upper Schools which serve students up to A-Level. Many students travel from the surrounding Luton and Bedfordshire area to attend the schools, and Harlington Upper has recently become a specialist science college.

Harlington is about 1.5 miles from junction 12 of the M1, 7 miles north of Luton, 10 miles south of Bedford and 40 miles NW of London. The village has a railway station served by First Capital Connect with trains to Bedford (16 mins) to the north and Luton (11 mins), Luton Parkway (13 mins), St Albans (25 mins), London Kings Cross (45 mins), Gatwick Airport (1 hr 39 mins) and Brighton (2 hrs 16 mins) to the south.
Shopping
Harlington has a few local shops including a post office, a butcher, an off licence, a newsagent and a hairdressing salon. For more extensive shopping the Arndale Centre in Luton has a superb selection of about 118 stores including Debenhams, Marks & Spencers, Next, Woolworths and Boots. Also close at hand is the Harpur Shopping Centre in Bedford with a large selection of shops including WH Smith, Argos, Dorothy Perkins, JJB Sports, Boots and Primark.
Sports & Amenities
The Harlington Manor Health Club is a private club in Westoning Road with a swimming pool, Turkish steam room, sauna, fitness studios, terrace and gardens. Here you can exercise, relax and socialise in a child free environment. The Chiltern Hills are well-known for their wide open views and beautiful chalk meadows and there are some scenic circular walks starting from Harlington and passing through the Sharpenhoe Clappers. Horse riding is also popular in the area. Luton and Bedford offer a wide range of sporting activities including athletics, basketball, bowls, cricket, football, golf, hockey, netball, rugby, skateboarding, swimming and tennis.
